Smile - a curve worth owning!

There is always a world yet to discover..
This feeling dawned to me when I was a part of SOS Children Village volunteers group and visited a children society in Pune. It was a help school in Koregaon. We were a group of 7, had planned lots of activites like passing the parcel, prizes to be won, tree planting; in short spending ample time with the kids..
The moment I reached the school I was shocked to see the huge crowd of small children, aged 6-15 yrs. They gathered in the school hall, the noise decibels were similar to what we would experience in normal schools. As per the plan we started off introducing ourselves and reason why we were there. One of them stood up and said - 'Yes we have regular visits here but can you promise me that I will grow up and become a doctor?' We got to know about the visits from many corporates donating money to societies like these. I was not even sure how the money was utilized..
So with many things unanswered, as per plan, we had few rounds of passing the parcel and musical chairs. That was real fun.. We could see them hysterically laughing, pushing kids.. This was followed by prize/sweets distribution. These kids didn't have parents. They didn't know what there future would be like. All they knew was that their friends were also like them..
When I returned, the thought running in my head was is there anything an individual can do to make their lives better? Can we do something to secure their future? Can those smiles be forever..
